Sexual Offender Registration Attorney in Marlborough
Massachusetts requires that all those convicted of sex crimes register with the Sex Offender Registry Board. This is the state agency responsible for keeping a database of convicted sex offenders and classifying each offender's status. The level of classification will make a big difference in terms of your everyday personal freedoms.
Classification Levels
Level 1: If the board determines that the risk of offending again is low and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public by that offender is not such that a public safety interest is served by public availability of registration information, the board will give you a level one designation. Information about you will not be made available to the public.
Level 2: If the board determines that the risk of offending again is moderate and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a public safety interest is served by public availability of registration information, the board will give you a level two designation. The public will have access to information about you through the police department and through the Sex Offender Registry Board.
Level 3: The board determines that the risk of offending again is high and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a substantial public safety interest is served by active dissemination, the board will give you a level 3 designation. The public will have access to the information about you through the police department and through the Sex Offender Registry Board.
Active dissemination of information means your photo will be posted in the post office, schools, on the Internet and in public places around the neighborhood.
